CVTC’s Mission: CVTC delivers innovative and applied education that supports the workforce needs of the region, improves the lives of students, and adds value to our communities. CVTC’s Residential Construction program is a one year Technical Diploma where 75 percent of the training will be hands-on and will include building a full-scale home under the supervision of an experienced instructor. The construction classes will cover: Construction concepts from blueprint reading to roofing, Estimating (residential), and Energy conservation. You will gain the following skills: Construction Safety (OSHA 10), blueprint reading, framing, building stair systems, roofing, estimating (residential), construction planning, building for sustainability, installing doors and windows, building for energy conservation, finishing exterior and interior, installing cabinets, concrete flatwork, and steel stud applications. Students spend 20 hours a week at the project site constructing a home.
