Breakout A: How Geothermal Works - for Contractors, presented by Jesse Green with Water Source Heating and Cooling, Inc.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;
In this session you will learn what contractors need to know about geothermal energy, including: the basic components, types of available loop systems, space requirements for loop systems, radiant floor heating with geothermal, ductwork requirements for geothermal and benefits for homeowners.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Breakout B:&amp;nbsp;Keeping Our Waterways Clean &amp;amp; Clear, presented by Liz Fagan, P.E. an Eau Claire County Land Conservation Engineer, Jared Grande an Eau Claire County Zoning Director, &amp;amp; Fred Dalke an Eau Claire County Building Inspector&lt;br /&gt;
Erosion control is an important part of every buildiing project. In this session, the Eau Claire County planning and development staff will discuss the importance of erosion control, the Uniform Dwelling Code erosion control application, key best management practices, and upcoming changes in the permitting and inspection program.&lt;/p&gt;

Breakout A: Using the Sun to Power Our Lives, presented by Dave Bell with Next Step Energy and Tom Bachmeier with Xcel Energy&lt;br /&gt;
Solar energy is becoming a hot topic for builders and homeowners as more people consider renewable energy sources. In this session, you will learn what is solar energy versus solar heat energy, the basic physics of solar, system size, site considerations and assessment, inverters, permitting &amp;amp; inspections, Distributed Generation Agreements, electrical requirements, financial analysis, tax credits and financial incentives and a sample project schedule.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Breakout B: Proper Ventilation, presented by Scott Piersma with Lomanco&lt;br /&gt;
During this class you will learn the proper and improper ways to ventilate an attic and how to properly figure intake and exhaust to get a balanced ventilation system.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;u&gt;10:30 - 12:30pm&lt;/u&gt;: General Session 1&lt;br /&gt;
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Home Construction, presented by Leroy Stublaski, Architect; Architecture Plus, LLC&lt;br /&gt;
This class looks at real photos of homes that have created problems for builders and building inspectors&amp;nbsp;alike. It deals with everything from how to effectively work &amp;lsquo;with&amp;rsquo; inspectors who make comments like &amp;lsquo;in&amp;nbsp;my town this is the way I want you do it&amp;rsquo; to the obligations of the builder to call for inspections and what&amp;nbsp;you are paying permit fees for. It focuses on everyday mistakes that cause code violations and how to&amp;nbsp;prevent these not only from happening, but what to do when mistakes happen. You&amp;rsquo;ll also learn how and&amp;nbsp;why the UDC Code requires certain standards. Most code requirements are minimum based on building&amp;nbsp;techniques of every day construction. The methods and &amp;#39;mistakes&amp;rsquo; used as examples will enable builders&amp;nbsp;to avoid costly mistakes that can slow down the job and affect the bottom line.&lt;/p&gt;

First Aid on the Construction Site, presented by Jon Leenhouts, MS; Chippewa Valley Technical College&lt;br /&gt;
After taking this course, you will be able to recognize situations requiring first aid procedures in&amp;nbsp;and around your construction site. Topics will include: site safety and assessment before you begin,&amp;nbsp;communication (who needs to know), responding to falls, electrical shock and burns, controlling bleeds,&amp;nbsp;crush injuries and other considerations. (Note: This is not a first aid certification course.)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;u&gt;2:40 - 3:40pm:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/u&gt;&amp;nbsp;Breakout Session 3 (Choose 1)&lt;br /&gt;
Breakout A: Building for Tomorrow&amp;#39;s Technology, presented by Hunter Braatz and Garrett Lewis, Hometech Innovations LLC&lt;br /&gt;
In this class you will learn about current and emerging smart home technology and how you can incorporate it into your projects. Topics covered will include the importance and the basics of Home Networking Systems, proper (pre) wiring, and an overview of Smart Home Automation options and capabilities.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Breakout B: Concrete for Contractors 101, presented by Bill John with Fenix / TK Speciality Performance Coatings&lt;br /&gt;
In this session you will learn the importance of curing and sealing concrete and what happens when concrete isn&amp;rsquo;t cured. The presenter will share the best of the worst ways to cure, treat and seal concrete once it&amp;rsquo;s in place.&lt;/p&gt;
