Join us for the 2023 Chippewa Valley Contractor Conference. This conference will supply you with 6 credits towards your DCQ renewal including the 4 credits you have to have per the new DSPS Rule.

8:00 - 8:10 a.m. Welcome

8:10 - 12:10 p.m. Construction Laws, Codes and Contracts, Liability and Risk Management (4 CEU credits) - This 4-hour course satisfies the new DCQ renewal class requirement.

Construction Lien Laws & Dispute Resolution (Joe Mirr, Ruder Ware LLSC)

Learn the what and how of construction lien law. You will learn who it applies to and the process and methods of filing a claim for liens.

Risk Management & Fall Protection (Mary Bauer, OSHA)
One of the most frequently cited areas for OSHA is fall protection. The presenter will cover the ways to protect yourself and your employees from falls. You will also learn the criteria for reporting a severe injury as well as a review of the inspection process.

Code with Fred Dahlke (Fred Dahlke, Eau Claire County)
Do you have questions for a local inspector? This is your chance to get them answered! Fred will be covering basic code updates and he wants to hear from you and be able to answer your questions. If you have a topic you would like to see him touch on please submit it with your registration.

12:10 - 12:45 pm Lunch provided

12:45 - 1:45 pm Renewable Energy Sources (Jesse Green, Water Source Heating & Cooling)
This session will dive into the details of heat pumps, geothermal systems, and solar energy. Builders will learn about the different heat pump systems and the benefits of using them. They will also learn about the newest technologies with geothermal and solar pv systems. (1 CEU Credit)

2:00 - 3:00 pm Engineered Wood Products: In depth look at 3 most common beam solutions (Mark Weegman, Weyerhaeuser)
This 1 hour course will review the 3 Engineered Wood Products beams LVL,LSL, and PSL. We will discuss how they resist load differently in both vertical and horizontal applications and will explain the benefits of solid section members along with connection details of built-up members. (1 CEU Credit)

3:00 - 3:15 pm Wrap-up

*New DSPS 4-Hour Class Requirement

As of Nov 1, 2022 four (4) of your 12 CEU credits that are required to renew your license MUST be covered in one 4-hour course on “construction laws and codes and contracts, liability, and risk management.” DSPS requires this to be 1 class that covers all 4 topics. The CVHBA will be offering this 4-hour class as the Contractor Conference’s morning session. Please note that we will be offering this class every other year (2023, 2025, 2027, etc). So if you attend the Contractor Conference every year, you will be covered for your renewals. If you are not able to attend the Contractor Conference, you will need to satisfy this four hour requirement before your renewal. The Wisconsin Builders Association does have an online class available that will meet the class requirement.

What if you are renewing soon, but have already completed your 12 credits?
If as of November 1 you already have your 12 credits completed for your renewal, you will NOT need to take this 4 credit class for this renewal. But WILL need to take it for your next renewal.

What if you have some of your credits towards your renewal, but still need some credits (i.e. you have 10 credits recorded, but need 2 more)?
You WILL be required to take the 4 credit course in order to renew your license. If you have not already completed the 12 credits, you must complete the 4 credit course

The Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association event cancellation policy requires a 5 business day notice for a full refund.

They will guide you through what to think about as you consider if your current home can be remodeled to fit your needs or if you should consider building a new home.
