Heat pumps are starting to pop up all over the place as a newer trend. This course will teach you what heat pump water heaters are, why they are so successful, how they work, how to install them and how to manage your clients’ expectations. (1.5 CEU Credits)

10:00 - 12:00 p.m. Installation Best Practices of Fiber Cement Siding (Cory Harper, James Hardie Building Products)
Explore the essential principles and practices of hard board siding installation in accordance with the International Building Code (IBC). This comprehensive course is designed to provide builders, contractors, and construction professionals with a deep understanding of the best building practices mandated by the IBC for the installation of hard board siding. (2 CEU Credits)

12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Crystal Clear Efficiency: Revolutionizing Windows for Energy-Efficient Living (Andy Wilkerson, Marvin)
Windows are an important part of every home. They keep the weather and debris out of the house and provide lighting and with the right windows they can make a home more energy efficient. This course will cover the basics of window selection and installation, including field installation. This course will also cover the basics of Low-E coatings and its impact on energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainability in building design. You will learn how Low-E coatings work, the various types that are made, as well as the real-world benefits such as energy savings, enhanced daylight and UV and glare reduction. (1.5 CEU credits)

2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Supporting Large Point Loads with Wood (Mark Weegman, Weyerhaeuser)
This course will explore why large point loads occur in today’s homes, what the consequences of these point loads are, and how to properly support them down to the foundation. We will discuss construction and code changes that require more capacity out of structures while dimensional lumber strength continues to decline. We will address columns, solid sections, column top and bottom connections, column bearing and cantilevered supports.

Join the Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association for an Aging in Place seminar sponsored by Property Shoppe Realty that will cover the basics and why it is a topic everyone should be prepared for. Whether you are thinking about your own home or a loved one’s, our experts will help you build an aging in place remodeling checklist as well as talk you through what to look for when buying a new home. They will guide you through what to think about as you consider if your current home can be remodeled to fit your needs or if you should consider building/buying a new home. With an expert from the Aging and Disability Resource Center joining the panel you will leave with all of your questions answered.

The Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association is thrilled to announce a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, aimed at fostering community engagement and making a positive impact on affordable housing in our region. To kick off this collaboration, we are excited to introduce the first Build Day Project, "Women Build." This event is open to anyone (male or female) and you are also able to volunteer the whole day or just part of the day!

Women Build: As part of our inaugural Build Day Project, we invite and encourage as many women members as possible to participate in this empowering and impactful experience. "Women Build" aims to highlight the crucial role women play in community development while making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Volunteer Opportunities: Members will have the opportunity to actively participate in the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home. Whether you are an experienced builder or a first-time volunteer, there will be tasks for everyone. Join us in creating a safe and stable home for a deserving family.

Dress Code: Please dress in comfortable and weather-appropriate clothing, including sturdy closed-toe shoes. Safety gear and equipment will be provided on-site.

Refreshments: Light refreshments, snacks and lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
